WITH THE BEES

WITH THE BEES is a selection of work from my long-term documentation of Huneebee Project, a New Haven-based grassroots organization that promotes beekeeping as a therapeutic practice, specifically for youth and young adults who hold experiences in child protective and/or foster care. I am enthralled by the transformations I have witnessed in so many young people's lives because of their time spent in the bee yards, with the bees. I am enthralled with the volunteers and mentors who, together, cultivate the space in which all of this can unfold. Interconnectedness is our birthright. Bees remind us of this vital truth. These photographs are my documentation of the healing, joy, and belonging that bursts forth when we open ourselves to community, and to each other.

This work is advocacy for the tenderness and vulnerability of youth.
