BIO
Grey Kenna (she/her) is an American photographer known for her gentle, personal approach to documenting her subjects, whether at weddings, in-home with clients, or in her own day-to-day life. With a background in professional spiritual care, she is widely trusted for her discretion, appreciation for nuance, and intuitive ability to understand people. She specializes in vintage film mediums and strives to make photographs that reflect presence, tenderness, and sincerity.
Grey has been documenting her life through photography for as long as she can remember. The evolution of her work has resulted in an 8+ year career of portrait, wedding and fine art photography that she is elated to continue nurturing. When she is not behind a camera, she loves to spend her time playing with her rescue pup, hosting friends at her kitchen table, reading, sitting in the sun, and trying her hand at growing herbs. She has received critical acclaim for her work as a selected attendee of the 2023 Chico Portfolio Review, and her work has been published in print & online. She lives and works in Nashville and is available to photograph people & weddings worldwide.
“What makes photography is a strange invention—with unforeseeable consequences—is that its primary raw materials are light and time.”
John Berger, Understanding A Photograph
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
At the core of my work is an abiding love for people and the world. I am inspired by the qualities of presence and trust that are forged between photographer and subject in the making of an image, as well as the notion of photographs as memento mori — reminders of the inevitability of change and impermanence. It is not lost on me that photographs are one of the most significant artifacts we have left of days, moments and people after they are gone. With this in mind I strive to make photographs that feel true, not just photographs that are honest.
My process is rooted in analog photography because of film’s tendency to encourage slower, more attentive looking. I believe that the best portraits are made when I tap into the love and care I have for each of my subjects. Mary Oliver said it best: to pay attention— this is our endless and proper work.

“Do stuff — be clenched, curious — not waiting for inspiration’s shrug or society’s kiss on the forehead. Pay attention. It’s all about paying attention. Attention is vitality. It connects you with others; it makes you eager. Stay eager.”
